Quotes from last year's charity runners

Here are some personal accounts and race day experiences from past Flora London Marathon participants who ran for charities.

Thank you for organising such enthusiastic support! Every time I ran past an NSPCC cheering point there was a roar of encouragement and shouting of my name - it felt so good, it helped me no end. That was my first ever marathon and it was the most amazing experience.  Thank you for enabling me to do it and give my support to such a worthy charity. Thank you!
Emily, London

Thanks for the reception I'd never had made it home without a massage and shower, although I am still very sore and stiff. (Can't get upstairs and had to use the stair lift at work!)
Stephen, Monmouth

I was such a privilege to run on the NSPCC team. People were so friendly at the stand at Excel and I had a brilliant time. It was a fab day and my family enjoyed it and I'm left wanting to get back into training for next year!
Sue, Norfolk

Many thanks for all the organisation that went into getting it right for all your runners. I loved the massage and felt very looked after by your team. Around mile 14 I was feeling very low, and had just said to myself 'something has to happen soon or else I won't be able to do this'. A few minutes later I ran past a huge bank of NSPCC (and Childline) supporters, who made a terrific racket with their shouts of encouragement – calling my name and cheering. It made such a difference and really lifted my spirits. So thank you. I really think I couldn't have done it without you.
Laura, London

Thanks to you guys from the NSPCC whose cheers made the pain over the last few miles all the more bearable!!!
Dan, Windsor

The cheering on the course was a boost and the after race gathering was a lifesaver!
Mike Palfreman, Havering

What a fantastic day, wouldn't have missed it for the world. Thank you for all your support over the months
Simon Dunn, Herne Bay

As the race started, I realised I wasn't running for me anymore, I was running for my family.
Adam Rollings, Leicester

It was a pleasure to run for Age Concern
Lindsay Boswell, London
