How YOU can make a difference

The efforts of all runners in the Flora London Marathon annually raise around £30 million for good causes – which is no mean feat considering there are only around 35,000 runners on the starting line.

Flora London Marathon Fancy Dress RunnerAs an individual you can make a huge difference to the lives of the people that your charity intends to help. Whether you raise £100 or more, all funds raised will have an impact, and every penny counts. Remember that as a ‘ballot place runner’ you don’t have a fundraising target that you must reach – so even if you only raise the smallest amount of money, the charities will be grateful for your support and it will impact on the quality of life of someone in need.

Furthermore, all the time you are fundraising, badgering, and roping in others to get involved will help to spread of the word of the charity and raise its profile. Charities very much rely on their good reputation so that people will trust them and will be willing to make donations. Also, running in a shirt emblazoned with the charity’s name and logo on race day is an honoured experience and will continue to boost the charity’s profile further.

Most importantly, when you reach that finishing line, not only will you achieve your very own dream in completing the distance, but the funds you raise will also make a huge difference to others and even make the simplest of dreams come true – which are ones we often take for granted.
